The Steinert Spartans are looking to pick up where they left off just a season ago.  The Spartans ended their season last year on a five game win streak and look to carry that momentum into this season with the new and returning players.

The Spartans had a .500 record last year at 5-5 and look to build on that this upcoming season.  Steinert has a young team on their hands this year so it’s is going to be a battle, but nothing that the Spartans aren’t prepared for.  Head Coach Dan Caruso looks forward to the development of the young players.  He caught up with WBCB’s Kayla Santiago on Monday.

Senior Quarterback Nick Wright will make a big impact on the team this year.  In 2018 Wright had 69 passes completed, 153 passing attempts, 860 passing yards and eight passing touchdowns.  As a returning player, he looks to expand the passing game utilizing his receivers and running backs.  Wright wants to make his last year as quarterback of the Steinert Spartans one to remember.

5-foot-9, 175 pound defensive back Matthew Lambert had eight tackles and an interception last year and he wants to improve on those statistics this season.  In his senior year, he looks to be a leader on and off the field for his teammates. Lambert is motivated by the work ethic in the locker room and wants to help the team in any way he can.
