Trenton, NJ—- The Trenton Tornadoes football team opened up training camp in late July, right next to their brand new school on Chambers Street. The new school has been the talk of training camp so far, as the players and coaches are all excited to get through the doors on the first day in September. On the football field, however, Trenton has experience and talent and are poised to have a good year.

The Tornadoes went .500 last season, turning in a record of 5-5.  Head football Coach Greg Hyslop is in his third year at the helm, and has had success in the regular season, but is still trying to get his first playoff victory.  He caught up with WBCB Sports Wednesday morning before practice.

Coach Hyslop believes this team has the right balance of veteran leaders, and younger players who can make an impact. He mentioned Shaun Balkcom, a 6-foot-3, 259-pound offensive and defensive tackle as a key starter and a standout performer, looking to take on a bigger leadership role this year.

The new Quarterback for the Tornadoes is James Hubbard, who had meaningful playing time as a punt returner and a safety last year. Hubbard will play quarterback for the first time since Pop Warner and looks forward to the new opportunity.
