Bensalem’s historic 2018 baseball season will be capped-off in style.
At 2:00 p.m. today, the PIAA class 6A state finalist, Eastern State Champion, District One champion, and Suburban One league champion, will be honored by PA State Representative Gene DiGirolamo.
“I am so proud of this group of young men who have proven that hard work and dedication always win out,” DiGirolamo said. “Harry Daut and his staff did such an exemplary job and we are all just so proud and happy with the success of this team.”
The “success” of the 2018 Bensalem baseball team extends far beyond the diamond.
“There was always talk of this team around the community,” Associate Director of Athletics, Lorenzo Henderson, said.
“If I wore something that said “Bensalem” on it someone would always ask me about the baseball team.”
Despite the team falling short in the final game, Henderson still believes the squad is more than deserving of today’s recognition.
“Even though we did not win the game, Bensalem is still winners none the less, “Henderson explained. Owl pride was back.”
The ceremony will be held at the Penn Community Bank Ampitheater, 2400 Byberry Road, in Bensalem and is open to the public.
