Saturday marked an all around positive day for the Pennsbury baseball program.

On the field, the Falcons handed Hopewell Valley its first loss of the 2018 season defeating the Bulldogs 4-1.

Off the field, the Pennsbury Baseball Parents’ Club held a donation drive to help athletes in need.

In support of the “Pitch In For Baseball” organization (a non profit organization that provides baseball and softball equipment to children around the world who want to play ball but lack the equipment to do so) parents collected used baseball and softball equipment throughout the Pennsbury victory.

“This is all about love of the game,” Secretary of the Pennsbury Baseball Parents Club, Carolyn Fogel said.

“There are kids who would not be able to play otherwise, and now they will have the equipment to play.”

Although the equipment was being donated locally, the gear will be put to use internationally.

“Because of the devastation from the hurricanes and floods, a majority of the equipment will be sent to Puerto Rico,” Fogel explained.

By beating Hopewell and participating in the donation drive the Falcons won in both Fairless Hills and across the globe.

Fogel believes the charity event perfectly embodies the Falcon community.

“The Pennsbury School District is a tremendous force in giving back.”
