Coming off the most successful season in school history, which ended with a PIAA 6A State Championship, the Pennsbury Falcons are riding high going into 2018. While they did lose some key players to graduation, they also have a lot of talent returning to their lineup.

Returning starters: INF Justin Massielo, 1B Kyle Dear, OF R.J. Huth, C Josh Tesarck

Massielo hit .351 with 12 runs batted in in 2017. Dear hit .297 with 9 runs batted in.

Key Roster Loss: P Billy Bethel

Bethel was the team’s ace in 2017, posting a 7-2 record with a 1.43 earned run average.

“All of them (were big losses).”, coach Joe Pesci says, “They were such a good team. The main loss, Billy Bethel, was incredible. We also lost Ryan McCarty, who had a couple walk-off hits.”

Player to look out for: P Sean Hochausler

“Sean is a pitcher who can eat innings.”, explains coach Pesci

Players who may surprise some people: OF Shane Marlin, OF Devin Sweeney

“The two sophomore outfielders, Marlin and Sweeney, are guys who compete above their grade level.” Pesci explained.

Season Expectations:

After the success they had last season, expectations are justifiably high going into this spring. “I think we’ll compete for the league title”, explains coach Pesci, “and I think we’ll make a run in the district and state tournaments.”
